ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman arrived at Parliament House ahead of the election for the prime minister on Friday.
Khan is chairing a meeting of the PTI’s parliamentary committee.
“The match isn’t over. Only one part of the dream has been complete” Khan said upon his arrival.
In response to a question on who the party would name as its nominee for chief minister Punjab, Khan said the announcement would be made after the parliamentary party meeting.
Parliamentarians will elect the country’s next prime minister during the National Assembly session which will be held at 3:30pm today.
It is expected that 330 MNAs will vote during the election and the PTI with the support of its allies has 175 seats. Khan will be contesting the election against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif who lost the support of the Pakistan Peoples Party a day prior to the election. If the MMA votes for Shehbaz, he is expected to receive 97 votes.
