The film takes a darker turn to the superhero-based Marvel Comics and will provide something different than what the audience has seen before.

“His version of doing good is just eating. The world is an all-you-can-eat buffet, and human beings are on the menu, so that’s not great for humanity as your hero,” Hardy said about Venom.

The story turns for the worse when Hardy’s character, Eddie Brock, tries to keep Venom’s bad intentions under control.

Hardy said Venom’s character had some similarities to various classic monster movies.

“There’s an element of original Ghostbusters, a slightly ‘80s retro vibe to it, which I enjoyed, and a bit of Teen Wolf and American Werewolf in London touch to it,” Hardy said. However, the one thing that caught every fans’ heart was when Hardy revealed that his 10-year-old son also gave him an input on how to play the role.

“My son’s a massive fan of Marvel and Venom, and he was very clear about what I can and can’t do. It’s very odd being told what to do by your son who’s 10 and him being right,” Hardy said at Venom‘s red-carpet premiere.

“He was pretty much in the driving seat for a lot of it, and I did use him as my anthology and my mythology wizard. He told me what I was doing wrong, and I was doing more things wrong than I was doing right because children are deeply honest. He was my little spirit guide in that aspect,” he added.

Venom co-stars British actor Riz Ahmed as villainous corporation owner, Carlton Drake, and Michelle Williams as Brock’s ex-girlfriend.

Venom’s character was created by comic book writer named Todd McFarlane, who produced the new character while he was struggling to draw Spider-Man.

“Venom is a byproduct of me wanting to draw a blue and red Spider-Man costume,” McFarlane revealed. “Thirty years later, you’ve got a big movie!”
